I found one wonderful recipe for Green Tea Roll Cake. The rest were all very basic salads, soups and dishes you could think up yourself. I hoped for recipes that were historically common to Mothers and Families of Japan which is not what this book provides. Amazingly there is a recipe for Hiyashi Tomato (basically a ice chilled tomato). On the upside it does provide a good glossary of utensils, ingredients and some lovely photographs. Nice book for a stand in the kitchen.

Wonderful book with lots of detail about Japanese food

This is a great cookbook with enough detail to satisfy cooks who wish to explore Japanese cuisine in some depth, and plenty of easy delicious recipes. I have been using it at least weekly since I discovered it a few months ago. Highly recommended!

I would buy this book again!

I absolutely love this book! It is by far my favourite recipe book. The stories behind each dish makes the meals you prepare from it even more enjoyable. It was actually supposed to be a Christmas present to myself but I couldn't help myself upon opening! I had to read it from front to back :)
