Payola

Kreigh's Payola is set in New Orleans of the 1950s during the time of the payola scandal when radio stations were paid bribes to play certain songs, completely distorting the music industry and exploiting artists horribly. Kreigh does a masterful job of evoking the mood and color of the era and has populated his story with a superb cast of characters. "Payola has everything a reader expects in a good mystery; bodies dropping and too many suspects to focus on; red herrings aplenty; and a protagonist who has a lot to lose if he fails to solve the crime-in this case, his own life. Without hesitation or reservation, I give it a solid five stars."
