A low-FODMAP diet is the simplest and most effective way to manage irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and a range of other dietary intolerances.

Georgia McDermott is one of the 15 per cent of Australians who suffer from IBS. She is also a passionate home cook. She set out to find a way of managing her symptoms and discovered the low-FODMAP diet. At the same time, she chronicled her journey and her cooking experiments on her phenomenally successful blog and on Insta (@georgeats).

Now, in her first book FODMAP Friendly, Georgia shares over 90 recipes that are not only delicious, but will help relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of an unsettled gut.

Georgia creates food for all occasions, from colourful salads and hearty dinners to gorgeous savoury bites and full-blown baking extravaganzas. Accompanied by all-new photography, these recipes - most vegetarian and sometimes pescetarian - are tried and tested by Georgia to ensure that taste is never sacrificed in the pursuit of feeling well and comfortable.

Whether you're following a low-FODMAP diet, suffer from food intolerances or experience gut-health issues OR you simply love great-tasting food that's also good for you, this book, bursting with deliciousness, is for you.

Beautiful images and design. The recipes not so much

The book it beautiful. For one thing it doesn't look like a book for a medical condition, which is a huge plus. I've only been tempted to cook one recipe in the book because the others require a lot of time and ingredients that are not easy for me to obtain. It is probably better for a more advanced cook than me.

New basics

This book shows you that you don't need gluten to make a good tart and you don't miss the garlic either. Really clever use of other things to flavour and bake normal dishes even if you don't have intolerances or preferences. If you do, or your friends or family do, it is a really handy book to have on your shelf. Must have taken hours and hours of trial and error! Highly recommended.

Not Coeliac gluten free for Australia

It's a beautiful book. I like the little blurb about each recipe. It's got a lovely calm feel about it. She is very clear that she is not a doctor etc...but I was disappointed about the way oats were included. With a few tweaks to the wording and some additional research incorrect information could have been avoided. Oats are not considered gluten free by Coeliac Australia. You can purchase oats that are not contaminated by wheat, and whilst oats do not technically contain gluten, unless you have been through specific tests under the guidance of a gastroenterologist, oats are not suitable for those with coeliac disease hence why the stance is oats are not gluten free in Australia. If you're going to sell a cookbook labelled GLUTEN FREE I am going to assume it is safe for those with Coeliac Disease. Would have been great to see this book have a go at spreading the right information especially as I feel this book appeals to a younger generation. But unfortunately it now gives them the wrong info and the cycle continues. Having said that, it is only a couple of recipes and people with coeliac disease are a diligent lot so hopefully they will know to avoid those recipes and politely educate their friends and relatives so they don't 'poison' anyone inadvertently.

Fully sick book 10/10

If you're familiar with her blog and social media, Georgia's personality really shines through. The recipes and photos are beautiful and simple enough to follow, with lots of options for dietary needs and leeway for changing recipes as you need. Yay!
