Computed Tomography

This book aims to provide a holistic picture of computed tomography, focusing on the multi-faceted elements of radiation physics, imaging protocols and image evaluation. It will provide readers with insight into practical and innovative technical approaches within the general imaging field, backed up with existing evidence-based research. This edited book begins by introducing the foundations, physical principles and patient care in the context of CT. The recent innovation and importance of technologies used to acquire CT images of diagnostic quality will also be discussed. These are essential for understanding the importance of dose optimization to patients worldwide. The patient care aspect will be further supported by evidence-based literature on effective communication methods, patient education, informed written consent, patient education, and assessment of laboratory results and vital signs. The editors will draw from recent publications and clinical expertise, supported with the growing trend of technological advances utilized within computed tomography. Each chapter will explore the multifaceted use and application of each 'sub theme' pertinent to computed tomography in order to present a single text with critical information for both students and practitioners. This edited volume will focus on the role of computed tomography for an array of audiences, but more specifically to undergraduate and postgraduate radiographers or CT technologists.
