The Garbage Guy

"The garbage guy wears a bright, bright shirt
With the name of our town on his broad, broad back
And a wide brimmed hat that goes on just like that
And he whistles through his teeth as he cleans up the dirt."

Meet 'The Garbage Guy'! He lives in "Verityville. He works hard all day long to keep the town clean and tidy! The Garbage Guy really cares for the environment and all the people in it. He sweeps, lifts, cleans and picks up all the litter left behind. Whether he is on the big truck and or having a break with his friends 'The Garbage Guy' has a happy smile and a great positive attitude to life.

This delightful picture book with a local commmunity theme will delight readers of all ages. Written through the eyes of a young child the reader follows the life of a garbage guy and discovers how with a positve attitude and a care for the world around him, one person can make a difference to the lives of others.

About the Author

"Formally a primary school teacher from UK, I now live in Sydney writing for children and adults alike. My works often take a child's perspective to explain the world and to reflect on important life experiences. My poetry is aimed at general audiences and as well as working on some collaborative ventures and YA projects.

My work with 'Elephant in the Room' has lead to presenting at an international storytelling conference at Mansfield College in Oxford UK and a distribution contract with Dennis Jones & Associates. I have published four books to date and won last year's SCWC Writer's prize for a poem about gender and identity." - Elizabeth Cummings
