James Patterson's bestselling Private series sees the world's most exclusive detective agency open a new office - in Australia!
With the best detectives in the business, cutting edge technology and offices around the globe, there is no investigation company quite like PRIVATE.
Now, at a glittering launch party overlooking the iconic Opera House, Private throws open its doors . . .
Craig Gisto and his newly formed team have barely raised their glasses, however, when a young Asian man, blood-soaked and bullet-ridden, staggers into the party, and what looks like a botched kidnapping turns out to be a whole lot more.
Within days the agency’s caseload is full: from a missing businessman whose latest scheme was a step too far; to a rock star terrified he’s next in line for the infamous ‘Club 27’.
But it is a horrific murder in the wealthy Eastern Suburbs and the desperate search for a motive that stretches the team to the limit. Stacy Friel, friend of the Deputy Commissioner of NSW Police, isn’t the killer’s first victim – and as the bodies mount up she’s clearly not the last . . .

James Patterson
James Patterson is one of the best-known and biggest-selling writers of all time. His books have sold in excess of 385 million copies worldwide. He is the author of some of the most popular series of the past two decades – the Alex Cross series, Women’s Murder Club, Detective Michael Bennett and Private novels – and he has written many other number one bestsellers including romance novels and stand-alone thrillers.
He has won an Edgar Award, ten Emmy Awards, the National Humanities Medal, and the Literarian Award from the National Book Foundation, and he’s still not showing any signs of slowing down. He was the first person to sell a million ebooks, and he has now published more than 200 novels in the past 50 years.
Meet James Patterson
James Patterson was born and raised in New York. He earned a BA in English from Manhattan College, and followed that up with a Masters in English from Vanderbilt
University.
He spent some time as an advertising executive, but eventually left the industry to focus on writing. According to an article he wrote for NPR in 2009, his greatest inspiration for writing was Mrs. Bridge, a classic 1959 novel by Evan S. Connell.
James is passionate about encouraging children to read. Inspired by his own son who was a reluctant reader, he also writes a range of books for young readers including the Middle School, I Funny, Treasure Hunters, Dog Diaries and Max Einstein series.
James has donated millions in grants to independent bookshops, given more than a million books to school students, and has been the most borrowed author of adult fiction in UK libraries for more than a decade. He lives in Florida with his wife and son, and has also donated more than $35 million to his and his wife’s alma maters.
