Striking personal poetry that bleeds with love, faith, and wisdom. There is no ready-made recipe for finding your voice and using it, consistently and selflessly, for writing a poetry collection that would captivate readers. Writing an autobiography in a poetic form seems a double daunting task because of the fears to be exposed for judgment from total strangers and fears to be overwhelmed with words, willing to escape from within. Squeezed between two opposing sides, one has to take a leap of faith. Pearl On A Summer Leaf: An autobiographical collection (The Evolution Series Book 1) is the first book in the series, depicting a very personal journey by Reena Doss. Using a balanced, elegant blend of prose and poetry, the author describes her life from birth until she was 15 in three parts, each revolving around one idea. 'Birth,' 'Sheltered,' and 'Cracked' contain themes of family, love, faith, kindness, compassion, thoughts on being a girl and then a woman in modern India. Despite the autobiographic nature of the book, the topics it raises go beyond the categories of merely personal experience, thus allowing people far away from India and with different backgrounds to connect with the author's words.

Pearl On A Summer Leaf is a wonderfully written beginning to Reena Doss's autobiographical series.
It is immensely engaging, refreshing and an endearing easy read. I look forward to the second volume at some point.
I would definitely recommend this book.

This is an endearing true-life story of a young lady with the sweetest soul that I have ever met. I've enjoyed reading Pearl On A Summer Leaf very much. I'm very impressed and attracted by Reena's style of writing. Reena is a naturally talented storyteller. I was drawn into her world and feel her pain and joy as though I was a spectator right beside her at her becoming of age journey. A few poignant chapters pained and angered me at the abuses that this lovely young girl has encountered and drew concern and a sense of protectiveness for her. Conversely, some light-hearted chapters and episodes warmed my heart that she is so well-loved by her family and vice-versa. Through her eyes and entrancing narration, I have come to love her charming family members as much as Reena has. This is a worthwhile read over a warm cup of tea to appreciate the warmth of God's unconditional love and irreplaceable family bond and support in the author's life.

This book is an honest and heartfelt rendition of emotions and memories of the author's childhood and formative years. The flow of words is beautiful. It is a journey, which takes the reader into the world of the author's past. I read the Kindle version of this book. A sentimental book.
