Rick Ferro has led a storied career as one of Walt Disney World’s top wedding photographers. His lighting and posing skill set is versatile yet dependable, and he has a remarkable facility in communicating to his clients the creative vision he has in mind.
In this book, Ferro opens wide his venerable bag of tricks to show new and seasoned photographers how to create breathtaking wedding/engagement, portrait, and glamour photographs in any location. The bulk of the text is devoted to managing the most challenging aspects photographers face: posing and lighting. Readers will learn how to find and use to best effect natural light at various times of day. They will also learn how to modify the light and supplement the existing light with flash for enhanced results. More sophisticated indoor, multilight setups are detailed and diagrammed as well, ensuring readers will be able to readily duplicate the flattering lighting effects that are a hallmark of Ferro’s style.
Next, Ferro provides indepth posing discussions for some of the more challenging presentations (e.g., seated bridal portraits, couples, and groups) and tricky body parts (hands are notoriously tough for many photographers to pose in a natural, flattering manner).
In addition to these critical teachings, Ferro also delves into other technical aspects that often prove challenging to amateurs and professionals alike—including storytelling, prop selection, composition, lighting group portraits on location, creating impactful silhouettes, and more. Finally, he provides insightful tips for bolstering the business—from building a surefire social media presence, to postprocessing effects that will help your business stand out, to using music and slide shows in the presentation stages to amp up the sales room excitement and earn big bucks.
