It Can't Happen Here

It's 1935 and discontent is rife in America.

From the political margins appears Buzz Windrip, charismatic presidential candidate and 'inspired guesser at what political doctrines the people would like'. Sweeping to power amid mass elation, he promises wealth for all and the dawn of a glorious new era. Small-town newspaper editor Doremus Jessop is worried, especially when the new regime becomes increasingly authoritarian.

About the Author

Sinclair Lewis was a journalist and Nobel Prize winning novelist known for 20th century works like Main Street, Elmer Gantry and Babbitt.

Born on February 7, 1885, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Sinclair Lewis studied at Yale University and worked as a newspaper journalist before becoming an acclaimed novelist. Known for his satirical take on modern affairs, some of his well-known releases included Main Street, Arrowsmith, Babbitt and Dodsworth. In 1930, he became the first U.S. writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Lewis died on January 10, 1951 in Rome, Italy.
