Factory introduces Lee Bauer in 1989, an aimless college dropout, caught in the contradictory claims of youth and responsibility. The first in the Lee Bauer series, Factory is a Midwestern coming of age story humorously hitting the age old themes of sexual exploration, nostalgia come too early, identity, and just what to do with one's life.
Industry Reviews
"Yost's (Votives, 2017, etc.) prose is meditative, imbuing the milieu of the small city with existential weight....A probing, sometimes-intriguing summer's tale."--Kirkus Reviews

"Factory by Tricia Yost is definitely my kind of book...Yost did a great job of making Lee's storyline feel fresh and original, and best of all, completely believable. Lee is a solid heroine and we really feel her struggle. The ending was sweet and satisfying, and I liked how it all wrapped up but leaves the door open for more."--Claire Middleton, Indie Book Reviewers

"This story captivated me. The journey and evolution of the characters had me intrigued and I had to keep reading to find out where they would go next. The plot is rich with depth, truth, reality, introspection, humor, uncertainty." --JM, Facebook Review

"Just a warning...when starting Factory make sure you don't have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won't want to stop reading until you've finished it all!! What I liked the most about this book was the overall feel the author managed to create where it felt intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really incredible, heart wrenching story that I didn't want to stop listening to. (5 stars)"--Stacy Decker "Factory by Tricia Yost is definitely my kind of book. Ms. Yost has such a great way of bringing to life these characters with whom we can relate and make it all feel so much like real-life situations and how life events shifts and tests relationships with family, friends, lovers, etc. Lee is 'finding her way', so to speak, experimenting with sexuality, and relationships (professional, familial, and platonic) and learning more about who she is along the way. While this is admittedly a familiar trope in literature, I thought Yost did a great job of making Lee's storyline feel fresh and original, and best of all, completely believable. This is so much more than just a "gay/bi-romance" story--it is a story of a life, and overcoming adversity in relationships and life despite the circumstances, and learning to accept one's self. Lee is a solid heroine and we really feel her struggle. One thing I particularly loved in this book is not only how [Yost] does fast-paced authentic dialogue (like how people, especially younger adults REALLY talk), but she is also inclusive in her relationships, including a gay/lesbian romance. Lots of angst and inner conflict, but it never got overly dramatic or maudlin--just like a profound search for one's true self and happiness. The ending was sweet and satisfying, and I liked how it all wrapped up but leaves the door open for more. (5 stars)--Claire Middleton, Indie Book Reviewers

"Just a warning...when starting Factory make sure you don't have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won't want to stop reading until you've finished it all!! Trust me on this! The book starts off with an intriguing beginning that quickly pulls us into Lee's world and hints at the themes and conflicts that the book will explore and just keeps going from there. The characters really come to life in these pages, and are so well-developed and authentic you feel like you know them personally. I think what I liked the most about this book was just the overall feel the author managed to create where it felt intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really incredible, heart wrenching story that I didn't want to stop listening to.
