Jane Harper: It’s been an absolute whirlwind.

by |September 26, 2017

The whole book industry was talking about Jane Harper’s The Dry before they even got their hands on a copy. It was dubbed ‘the next big thing’ and Jane certainly didn’t disappoint! The Dry is an internationally bestselling, multi-award winning success and we’ve seen Jane become that ‘big thing’, just as predicted. The Dry has been formally optioned for film by Hollywood star Reece Witherspoon, with production talks well underway.

Our love of this author is set in stone and there are many avid fans in the office. Gratefully, we haven’t had to wait that long for Jane to return with her next book. Force of Nature is out today and we were lucky enough to have Jane visit us yesterday. She signed hundreds of copies of Force of Nature, a story about five women who are reluctantly sent on a retreat in the wilderness, but only four come out the other side.

Jane doesn’t waste time, with book three already in the planning stages!

“I think I always knew I would love to write more books… with a journalism background, I think I work best under a bit of pressure… it felt more natural to just get back into it.” – Jane Harper

Jane has been a massive reader since childhood and deep down always knew she wanted to be a writer. “My writing is influenced by the books I’ve read throughout my life,” says Jane. “My training as a journalist helped me write fiction, there’s no question about it. There’s a few really valuable things I learnt from journalism that I applied almost directly to fiction.”

For a very limited time we have signed copies of Force of Nature available on our website here.

Alice Russell is the whistleblower in his latest case - and Alice knew secrets. About the company she worked for and the people she worked with...

About the Contributor

Before entering the exciting world of books, Bronwyn served in the Royal Australian Air Force, travelled extensively and worked (still does!) as a barista on the weekends. Books are her true passion. Bronwyn's debut fantasy novel Relic is coming out in 2019 with indie publishing house Talem Press. They are to publish her entire trilogy called The Relic Trilogy. In her spare time, Bronwyn writes, reads and enjoys keeping fit (which she undoes by eating loads of chocolate) with Martial Arts and personal training. She can't answer what her favourite book is but she has a soft spot for Peter Pan (J.M Barrie), Outlander (Diana Gabaldon), Stardust (Neil Gaiman), The Illuminae Files (Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman) and Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo). Fantasy, sci-fi and YA make up the majority of her bookshelves.
