WHO REALLY KILLED THE HADLER FAMILY?
Luke Hadler turns a gun on his wife and child, then himself. The farming community of Kiewarra is facing life and death choices daily. If one of their own broke under the strain, well ...
When Federal Police investigator Aaron Falk returns to Kiewarra for the funerals, he is loath to confront the people who rejected him twenty years earlier. But when his investigative skills are called on, the facts of the Hadler case start to make him doubt this murder-suicide charge.
And as Falk probes deeper into the killings, old wounds are reopened. For Falk and his childhood friend Luke shared a secret ... A secret Falk thought long-buried ... A secret which Luke's death starts to bring to the surface ...

A beautifully descriptive book about the challenges of regional Australia.
I read this before Christmas and was so blown away with how good it is that I purchased it as a gift for Mum. It's a real page turner, even from non crime lovers like my mum, the characters are so well written you can't help but be drawn into their story.
cant put it down
Good who-done-it, I liked the pace of the story, good character development. Loved it set in Australia. Even though I had worked out who had done it early in the story it kept my complete interest as I untangled the why and how. I felt the ending was out character to the rest of the story as it was very dramatic and a bit 'Hollywoodish'.
Murder mystery in the Aussie outback
Definitely a page turner, this first book from Jane Harper leaves you wanting more
Absolutely loved this book
Could not put it down. The twist at the end was not what I expected.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Some great descriptive prose and a page turning story that kept me guessing until the end.
Good suspenseful read, loved the characters. Left me wanting more. I've promptly gone and bought her other two novels.
I couldn't wait to receive my book and start reading
I really enjoyed my first Jane Harper book. Have ordered another one from Booktopia. Can't wait to receive it.
A compelling read
A truely enjoyable read! I wouldn't consider myself a lover of crime novels, but this book was extremely well written with a steady pace and just the right amount of suspense. Jane Harper sets the scene so well, you actually can feel the despair, the heat, the desperation. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.
Fantastic Page Turner
The first crime novel I've read in quite some time, and I was captivated. I felt every suspect was guilty until they weren't and I never guessed the Hadlers' actual killer until Falk did himself.
