Cute animals combined with tips on life skills will help kids understand and bounce back from life's many challenges

Kids can find the world we live in daunting and a bit scary. There's just so much going on with climate change, social media and pressures to work out what it is you want to do in life - even at this young age! This book will help young readers explore some common areas of anxiety and conflict on the topic of Unexpected Challenges in a fun and gentle way.

Very cute animals illustrate each scenario to help young readers understand situations such as: why we often feel a range of emotions when life takes an unexpected turn, feelings around losing a favourite toy, when parents separate and when the child or a loved one is ill. Readers are asked to think about how those scenarios might relate to their experiences and then encouraged to have a go, ask for help, be brave and to embrace feelings of nervousness as well as enjoying feelings of pride or happiness.

Information and enjoyable activities combine to encourage readers to build their resilience and personal skills so they can Bounce Back from any difficulties in thoughtful and practical ways.

This book helps build character skills, such as empathy, respect and perseverance. Increasingly, the value of solid character skills is considered just as important as academic skills and this book is a great foundation for developing the flexible mindset needed to cope with our ever-changing world. To thrive, kids that can Bounce Back and build resilience will have a head-start on their peers.

The Bounce Back series is suitable for readers aged 6+and for those studying PSHE as part of the schools curriculum. They are an excellent resource of PSHE topics for parents, teachers and carers as talking points for class discussion or as books to read together.

Titles in this series:

Anxiety and Self-esteem

About the Author

After a few false starts with a model agency and an accountant's, Honor Head's career as a children's writer and editor began when she joined a small publisher producing comics featuring children's television characters. The light bulb clicked on - Honor discovered she loved editing and writing for children - and has been burning brightly ever since. She has now published over 100 books for children on subjects as diverse as kitten care, famous outlaws, ghastly ghosts and totally awesome trucks as well as creating pop-ups, pull-outs and sticker books, and has edited many, many more.

Honor now lives beside the seaside in Devon where she has fun helping out at the local museums organising family and school activities - a great way to meet her readers! On sunny days she heads for her favourite seaside cafe to eat cheese toasties and watch the dogs playing on the beach.
