Lara Croft and Indiana Jones join forces--in space!

This December, discover the newest series from New York Times bestselling duo, Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Jules Addison and Amelia Radcliffe join forces in a tomb-raiding race on a newly-discovered planet to unravel the secrets of an ancient, long-extinct civilisation--only to uncover a revelation that could spell the end of the human race...

When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered. For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study...as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first. Despite their opposing reasons for smuggling themselves onto the alien planet's surface, they're both desperate to uncover the riches hidden in the Undying temples. Beset by rival scavenger gangs, Jules and Amelia form a fragile alliance...but both are keeping secrets that make trust nearly impossible. As they race to decode the ancient messages, Jules and Amelia must navigate the traps and trials within the Undying temples and stay one step ahead of the scavvers on their heels. They came to Gaia certain that they had far more to fear from their fellow humans than the ancient beings whose mysteries they're trying to unravel.

But the more they learn about the Undying, the more Jules and Amelia start to feel like their presence in the temple is part of a grand design - one that could spell the end of the human race...

Review by Sarah McDuling

This book is just so wonderfully, tremendously FUN! In all seriousness, I can’t even begin to decide what I loved most about Unearthed. I think the answer is everything. Every part of this book is 100% awesome and I am pretty much frothing at the mouth for the sequel.

Of course I am not surprised. When I first heard that Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner (authors of The Starbound Trilogy) had written a book described as “Indiana Jones and Lara Croft in Space” I knew that I would love it. I love everything these authors have written, both together and separately. The Starbound Trilogy is one of my all-time favourite space-romance-adventure series and I’m very pleased to say Unearthed is every bit as good as I expected… if not better!

First of all, let’s talk about the lovable main characters. Mia is a feisty, streetwise thief with a heart of gold. As a scavenger, she is tough, smart and determined, but also achingly vulnerable. Meanwhile Jules is a passionate scholar who has been raised with privileges and advantages far beyond Mia’s experience. The two have virtually nothing in common… but when circumstances force them into a reluctant partnership they soon find themselves on a wild treasure hunt across an alien landscape, pursued by danger at every turn.

Unearthed is a captivating read with flawless world building and a thrilling plot full of action, adventure, mystery and romance. It’s basically all of my favourite things rolled together in one addictive book!

Amie Kaufman

About the Author

Amie Kaufman is the New York Times and internationally bestselling co-author of the award-winning Starbound trilogy (These Broken Stars, This Shattered World) and The Illuminae Files trilogy (Illuminae). Her multi-award winning work has been published in 30 countries, and described as “a game-changer” (Shelf Awareness), “stylistically mesmerising” (Publishers Weekly) and “out-of-this-world awesome” (Kirkus).

Amie had the good fortune to be raised just one block from her local library, and took full advantage of that fact growing up. She and her sister spent their childhood summers re-creating their favourite books by camping in the back yard, mapping their neighbourhood, climbing trees, stepping through magical doors and sailing the local seas. Raised in Australia and Ireland, she has kissed the Blarney stone six times, thoroughly cementing her gift of the gab.

As she grew older (but not up), she continued her education, and graduated with honors degrees in history, literature and law, and a master’s degree in conflict resolution. After working as a mediator for seven years, these days she’s a full time writer, working from her home in Melbourne when she’s not on the road in the US, Europe and Asia. A few of her top travel moments include camping in the Sahara overnight, climbing a mountain in Vietnam, standing on the Great Wall of China and cycling the Loire Valley, but she has a huge list left to cover.

Amie lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and their rescue dog, Jack. She’s a huge fan of chocolate and naps, has an enormous music collection, and an entire room of her house is devoted to her library. She still sails, and though she climbs fewer trees, she remains partial to investigating the occasional magical door.
