This will be an important book for a number of reasons. David Bain's third trial for the murder of his family took 55 days, and while the media covered the trial extensively, of necessity they presented to the public only a fraction of the evidence the jury heard and saw. Subsequent to the trial, evidence that was held to be inadmissible by the court and either suppressed or not heard by the jury has been given wide media coverage. As a result, on the issue of David Bain's guilt or innocence, the public remains deeply divided. Having spent the last 13 years supporting David's efforts to receive a fair trial, Joe Karam has seen the jury's verdict not only questioned but seemingly undermined in the court of public opinion. As he has done all along, Joe maintains that a fair and objective appraisal of the facts would find David innocent. At the end of the last trial, a jury of 12 of David's peers agreed with him and David was found not guilty. When Joe was forced to ask himself what more he could do, after the maelstrom of post-trial events which on the surface would seem to question the whole basis of our legal system, where editorials in leading newspapers suggested the public were in a better position to determine guilt and innocence than the jury, he decided that the same public deserved the opportunity to make up their own minds. This new book will put them in a much better position to do that. Its contents will be strenuously embargoed and no previews, excerpts, descriptions of content or scope of the book will be released. It will be a book about the trial of the century. It will be written by someone in the unique position of knowing the case, the background and the key players inside out. Joe Karam is also the author of two previous blockbusters, David and Goliath and Bain and Beyond, a powerful indication of what this author is capable of providing. That's all you really need to know and all we are able to tell you at this stage - this is a book everyone will be talking about, and about which everyone will have an opinion.
