In Ponyboy's world there are two types of people. There are the Socs, the rich society kids who get away with anything. Then there are the greasers, like Ponyboy, who aren't so lucky.

Ponyboy has a few things he can count on: his older brothers, his friends, and trouble with the Socs, whose idea of a good time is beating up greasers like Ponyboy. At least he know what toe xpect – until the night things go too far...

About the Author

S.E. Hinton wrote her first book, The Outsiders, in 1967, when she was seventeen years old. Hinton is also the author of That Was When, This Is Now, Rumble Fish, Tex, Taming the Star Runner, and many others. Hinton lives in Oklahoma.

This is my favourite book ever.

The social hierarchy aspects are possibly what people first hear about when The Outsiders is mentioned, but it goes beyond that and really is about friendship and the meaning of lives in any place in the social structures of society. Themes of brotherhood, love, death and hope/longing for something more
