The Great Progression: 2025-2050

A leading technology expert presents your guide to the next 25 years with a sweeping grand narrative about America’s current reinvention—one that makes the most of artificial intelligence and other transformative technologies and builds a world of abundance that works better for all.

The majority of Americans and others in the world are looking for a new way forward that can solve the many challenges of our time. This timely book lays out how we can harness AI and other transformative technologies like clean energy and bioengineering to drive a vast economic boom and great progress over the next 25 years.

Peter Leyden argues that America already is in the early stages of a reinvention that the country has gone through three times before in an uncanny pattern of every 80 years—in the founding around 1785, coming out of the Civil War in 1865, after World War II in 1945, and now starting in 2025. The book makes a compelling case that early innovators already have laid the groundwork for quickly bringing together a new tech-positive majority that always forms in these reinventions and then cracks the new models about how the economy and society can work better for everyone in the next era.

This inspiring book is a positive reframe of the extraordinary moment we’re all living through, providing clear answers to the critical questions of our time: what’s really going on today, what’s probably coming, what’s possible to achieve, and what we all should do.
