In an extraordinary act of love and service, one recovering compulsive eater helped another to stay connected to our life-saving program, GreySheeters Anonymous (GSA).*
GSA meetings are lifelines for us, providing support that helps us to achieve and maintain GreySheet abstinence. But in the 1980s, there were no Zoom or phone meetings. For eight months spanning 1984 and 1985, a GreySheeter created a written record of thirty-five weekly meetings held in Austin, Texas. She sent her notes in the form of thirty-five letters to a beloved member who had moved away from the area. Receiving these letters each week kept this member close to the community and the program that gave her freedom from compulsive eating.
This collection of letters is a wonderful addition to the GSA literature currently available. In each chapter members share their strength, wisdom and inspiration as they recover from compulsive eating.
