Sergeant Slack, a highly decorated Marine combat veteran and Master Drill Sergeant has a chance meeting in a Dulles Airport bar waitng for his flight with the Owner of the Washington football team. During the conversation, he tells the Owner of the team that they lack the desire to win and care more about their own reputation that that of the team. That piques the curiosity of the team Owner who asks the former drill sergeant what steps would he take. The drill segeant is direct but honest with his reply which impresses the team Owner. He says that he would trade or waive the prima donas, he would better condition the players so that they had the strength and stamina to impose their will on their opponent and most importantly, he would instill a winning attitude in the players and demand that they fight to win until the final whistle. The team owner is so impressed that he hires Sergeant Slack on the spot to be his assistant head coach in a hybrid position. He reports to the team headquarters the next week and is met by skepticism from their old school head coach and five of their existing players. He asserts his dominance by firing the head coach and trading five of the players who did not buy into what he was saying. He spends the rest of the year working with their new head coach on building a team that is committed to giving it all in order to win. They have a successful draft in the offseason and rise from being a losing team to the league champion the following year. Their team owner gets greedy in the next offseason so Sergeant Slack opts to take the general manager position with the Dallas team. He enjoys a successful run with the Dallas team but is led astray by the team Owners wife who uses Sergeant Slack to fulfill her desires. He loses focus on his mission and is ultimately fired by the team owner which sends Slack down the road to ruin. He is saved by an old Marine buddy who drives him to a rehabilitation center in Arizona. He comes out a renewed man and sets his sights on helping other people who have lost their way but don't have the means for an expensive rehabilitation center. He randomly picks Aiken S.C. as the location. He travels to Aiken and builds a small three bed center in the poor side of town and recruits a dedicated staff to help those people who are lost souls for whatever reason. He receives much more personal gratification there than anything he has ever done. It is an immediate success and grows to become the largest rehabilitation center in the South. His story of redemption is now complete..
