Rushden, My Rushden.

Foreword by Steve Bennett I knew Roy for many years, initially from Travis Perkins, when he worked there. I also went to The Mission Church for many years and got to know him and his family well. I knew he had written a book of poems that I never purchased. I was also aware he had written this book and I'd never seen a copy. I started looking for a copy and could only find one for sale at £20, when I next looked, I couldn't find any? I thought it was very sad that Roy's future family might not be able to get hold of a copy in the future. The copy I am using belongs to Roy's daughter Linda or I would not have been able to undertake this task. I think it's important that this book can be found by future generations, for the reason below! I had found a copy of a book by one of my forefathers that had been written in 1774, then after some research found he'd also written a book of poems in 1796. Books were very expensive to get published back then and he had the backing of the Duke and Dutchess of Marlborough and many other benefactors. I've put both of those books into modern day English around 2009, so was aware although its time consuming it can be done. I have therefore taken the time to transcribe this book for future generations of Roy's family and the people of Rushden. I have copied it down in the same way as Roy wrote it, I don't agree with all the grammar or the use of commas and full stops and I would certainly have put many more question marks had I written it? The main thing is the book is available again for those who want to read or own a copy
