A delicious celebration of rice as the heart and soul of the Malaysian kitchen

'For any lover of rice, this book must be in your repertoire. Why? Because not only is it everything you need to know about rice but it's also packed with ideas of how to use it!'
Ken Hom, CBE

A stunning celebration of rice with over 100 recipes from Malaysia and her neighbours, from Ping Coombes, guest judge on MasterChef.

Rice is a symbol of life, prosperity and abundance in many Southeast Asian countries and a staple food all across the world. For Ping, growing up in Malaysia rice was always the sun around which all other dishes revolved.

In this beautiful homage to rice, Ping offers advice and timeless recipes that will make this a book for every rice-loving cook to treasure. She explains whether to wash rice, the different ways to cook it perfectly, how to reheat it safely, why sticky rice isn't simply overcooked rice and how to elevate your rice-eating experience.

The recipes include rice dishes, dishes to partner with rice, sweet rice, savoury rice, rice snacks, foods made from rice, whole chapters on fried rice and one-pot rice, pickles and condiments and so much more. Try some of these dishes and you will completely change the way you think about this amazing grain.

Her Malaysian recipes are frequently featured in the press, and her first book MALAYSIA topped the Amazon bestseller list.
