A collection of Norse myths, from the mischief of Loki to the wisdom of Odin, complete with facts and details about the Vikings who lived their lives by these tales. This collection of Norse myths retells the stories of the Viking people, with myths of their gods and goddesses, monsters and great heroes. From tales of beautiful and powerful Freyja to the gold-toothed Heimdallr and the wolf Fenrir, this book explores all of the figures and stories that make up Norse Mythology. Along with these tales, the book also includes information about the Vikings and how their myths affected their lives and histories. AUTHOR: Peter Archer has taught college classes in classical mythology, the legends of King Arthur, and American folklore. He is the author or co-author of sixteen books and has held jobs ranging from a pit clerk at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to production editor on a left-wing newspaper in New York City. He is currently an editor for Adams Media and lives in a 200-year-old converted parsonage in southeastern Massachusetts with two cats and about 4,000 books. SELLING POINTS: A collection of Norse myths, with insights into Viking life and culture. Viking and Norse myths and culture are becoming increasingly prominent in pop culture, with the success of the History Channel show Vikings, the inclusion of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the upcoming release of Neil Gaiman's book retelling Norse myths in 2017.
