"There is much to admire here. The story for some reason reminded me of episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, and occasionally of the old cartoon Fractured Fairy Tales. from the old Bullwinkle show. Perhaps it was the comical short king who is completely ineffectual and dominated by his temperamental queen of a wife. Of particularly humorous note is the Annual Spoonpole Tournament which stands in for the absurd pomposity of the monarchy. The witch, by the way, is very twisted and very strange, more so than usual for the genre. She was hilariously wicked."
