Once the code is broken, scientists realize that the extraterrestrial race has a technology far beyond anything available to humanity - and appears ready to establish friendly contact. Petty jealousies and mistrust infect the scientists as each fears that one or more of the others will attempt to take credit for this momentous discovery. But such worries become irrelevant as world governments display a strange lack of enthusiasm, and the true magnitude of this extraordinary situation soon becomes clear. This is a gripping tale, and although Napier's deep knowledge of the scientific background is obvious throughout he never allows it to obscure the action.
