The trouble starts when three vicious hoods raid a tourist shop in the peaceful town of Rhododendron - particularly peaceful because most of its townsfolk are in some way 'possessed'. This phenomenon dates back to strange occurrences of a decade earlier, when many of the current residents - wherever they originated from - were partly taken over by an alien intelligence. But now the mother-source of that alien influence has decided to come and settle on Earth. A giant meteor is making a collision course towards New York panic convulses the city, and the entire nation ... and only two 'doubly possessed' little girls have the power to keep it at bay. However, there are ambitious men determined to welcome their new masters home -- and various social misfits out on a rampage all of their own.

Before humanity's place in the galaxy can be secured from this threat, a hair-raising, vertiginous rollercoaster of obstacles and hazards must be negotiated.
Industry Reviews
This is a fast-paced Hollywood blockbuster of a novel. Intriguing from the beginning, it introduces twins Kara and Lorri Carter who, with other children from their sleepy home town, exhibit very special powers. These curious abilities, including mind control, appear to be mysteriously linked to a strange green light seen by their parents before they were born. Huberman's fourth novel is set in contemporary America and seems to relate two unconnected stories, that of the twins and the other which, in the style of several recent feature films, tells of an asteroid that is heading for Earth on a direct collision course with New York. It soon becomes clear that the asteroid is connected with the future of Kara and Lorri. At times the novel becomes very scientific, but difficult terms are explained, giving the reader the feeling that they have learned something from the book as well as enjoyed the story. The characters range from chauvinistic military men to psychopathic serial killers. Graphic violence is depicted throughout the novel with language to match, and it's not really for the faint-hearted. Although the story is at times reduced to cliches, it is always an entertaining combination of science fiction and horror, and it springs some hefty surprises. (Kirkus UK)
