Pop artist Jason Mecier creates playful, insanely detailed portraits of celebrities using trash, candy, and other items, making sculptural celebrations of his subjects and our fascination with fame. Here is Amy Sedaris assembled from her own trash, David Bowie made out of cosmetics and feathers, Snoop Dogg sculpted out of weed, Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus crafted out of candy, and Kevin Bacon made out of bacon.

The meticulously created images are as beautiful as Pop Trash they are entertaining, literally trashy and candy-coloured spotlights on the glamorous and infamous. Fun process shots detail some of the work behind the scenes (how much liquorice does it take to make Harry Potter?), and portraits ranging from Stevie Nicks to Honey Boo Boo make the book a visual treat for pop culture and pop art fans alike

" Jason Mecier, [is] a San Francisco artist who pays tribute to his favorite celebrities by making art out of objects like discarded materials, pieces of candy, and make-up-related detritus, demonstrating in the most vivid of ways that one man's trash is another fan's treasure...Ultimately, [Mecier] says the point of his work is 'to have fun.' Mission accomplished!"
-KQED Pop
"Good portraiture captures more than likeness - it captures essence. A gleam in the eye, a tilt of the head, hues in hair and skin tone and personal style are all significant. Los Angeles-born, San Francisco-based artist Jason Mecier is all about these details, but he highlights them in a way no one else does: with found items that represent the individual's personality, often provided by the subjects themselves."
