Physics in Focus - Year 11

Physics in Focus Year 11 meets the complete requirements of the 2017 NSW NESA Stage 6 Physics syllabus in intent, content and sequence. The student book is written in accessible language and has clear, explanations throughout. The scenario-style questions at the end of each module allow students to review, analyse and evaluate content throughout. The text provides learning across all curriculum areas, as detailed in the syllabus and contains a dedicated chapter on how to approach and carry out the Depth Study at Year 11. 'Working Scientifically' processes are developed within each investigation, with supporting primary and secondary-sourced investigations, including modelling, are embedded within the content.

About the Author

Kate Wilson is a senior lecturer in the School of Engineering and Information Technology, UNSW Canberra (UNSW at the Australian Defence Force Academy). She has a PhD in computational physics from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching from the University of Canberra. Kate has been a member of the Sydney University Physics Education Research group, an Innovative Teaching and Educational Technology Fellow at the University of New South Wales, first year coordinator in physics at the Australian National University and director of the Australian Science Olympiads Physics Program. She is author of the resource set Workshop Tutorials for Physics and Nelson Physics units 3 and 4 for the National Curriculum.

Rob Farr has taught science for over 30 years, twenty of those as a head of department. He has extensive experience as an HSC marker in physics and chemistry, and is a past supervisor of marking. In addition to co-authoring the Physics in Focus series, Rob is a contributing author to Nelson iScience for NSW and Nelson Physics for the Australian Curriculum.

Philip Young is a former director of the National Space Society in Washington DC, former president of the National Space Society of Australia, and coordinator for the Australian Space Network run by the Australian Centre for Astrobiology. He has been teaching science for ten years and currently teaches at Northholm Grammar School.
