About the Author

Melvin Burgess was born in Twickenham and originally trained to be a journalist. Although journalism wasn’t for him, it awoke a love of writing and he has written over 20 titles for children and young adults. Never one to shy away from powerful themes, Melvin has been awarded numerous prizes for his work including the Carnegie Medal for his controversial bestseller Junk. Melvin lives in West Yorkshire.
