Built of black glass and rain-slicked neon, Mnemosyne is a metropolis where memory is currency. The rich live in blissful, lobotomized ignorance, their traumas chemically excised and stored in glowing vials. The poor are forced to hawk their cherished recollections just to eat, leaving them with nothing but misery.

Verity is a Witness. Cursed with Hyperthymesia, she is physically incapable of forgetting. Every sensory detail of every day of her life is etched permanently into her mind. In a city of chosen oblivion, she is a living archive for the Resistance, cataloging the crimes the elite have paid to forget. Her mind is a crowded, noisy prison of perfect recall.

Cainan is an Absolver. A high-ranking enforcer for the memory banks, he extracts secrets not with machines, but with his mind. He is an empathic sponge, absorbing the darkness so others don't have to. But the cost is his own identity: suffering from severe prosopagnosia, he has absorbed so many other lives that he can no longer recognize his own face in the mirror.

When Cainan is sent to hunt Verity for a secret code locked in her indelible memory, he expects a simple extraction. Instead, he finds the one anomaly his power cannot erase. Verity doesn't just hold the code; she holds the truth of who Cainan used to be before the city wiped him clean.
