Math Mammoth Grade 5-B Worktext (International Version) is the student book for the second half of grade 5 mathematics, and part of the Math Mammoth Grade 5 complete curriculum. This book covers decimal multiplication and division, fraction addition and subtraction, fraction multiplication and division, and geometry.
This book starts with chapter 6, which continues our study of decimals. The focus is on multiplying decimals by decimals, dividing decimals by decimals, and conversions between measuring units. Chapter 7 covers the addition and subtraction of fractions - another focus topic of 5th grade besides decimals. In chapter 8, we study the multiplication and division of fractions from various angles. Chapter 9 takes us to geometry, starting with a review of angles and polygons. Then, students learn to classify triangles and quadrilaterals, and study the concept of volume in the context of right rectangular prisms (boxes).
Being a worktext, the book contains both the necessary instruction and the problems and exercises (the 'text' and the 'work'), and is for the most part self-teaching.

- After each chapter introduction, you will find a list of Internet links and resources (games, quizzes, animations, etc.) that can be used for fun, illustrations and further practice.

I have used MM for nearly 10 years. My oldest daughter who is extremely math-averse, used it from levels 2-7 and has recently completed 3 years of high school math in 2 years because of the strong foundation MM built. This curriculum is economical, easy to implement, and most importantly, excellent quality. The best part for me, being very weak in math myself, is that the lessons are right there on the page so I can help my children when they need it just by looking over them.
