Maps and Chipper

Two World War I recruits enlist as flyers in the ritish Army and a young woman enrolls as a nurse. Together they learn to survive the military, fly, and eat rabbits. Maps Medlicott is an Army soldier who decides that flying would be a much better way to serve his country. Chipper McGraw is the son of a Navy carpenter who steps into the wrong office and becomes a pilot. Victoria is a naive nurse adored by all. She cares for everyone but loves no one. The adventures of these three characters intertwine at a recruit training school in the early years of the First World War. Born in the Cotswolds of England near Stratford-On-Avon, David Gubbins now lives in Luzern, Switzerland. He based the book on a story he used to tell when he was a Royal Air Force recruit in the 1980s. He has spent 30 years working with aircraft and is currently a technical writer in Switzerland.
