Four dogs - No money - No credit - No job - No home

Recession, it's not just a word. It's a sledgehammer to people's lives.

"We are not giving up our dogs!" Alexandra and her husband vow to each other, even though they know that all odds are against them.

LOSING IT ALL is for anyone who has faced loss, questioned their worth, or wondered how to begin again. What could have been the saddest time of their lives somehow becomes an adventure when they start working in a sausage kitchen. It's also a love story-between partners, between friends, and between humans and their animals. It is a call to see people, not just numbers; to dream big, even when the world seems small; and to remember that, in the end, what matters most is not what we own, but who we become when everything else is stripped away.

"You don't just grab the bull by the horns, you hold him tight, give him a kiss on the forehead, slap his behind, and set him free." This becomes the couple's new philosophy. Honesty is their only way forward.

Alexandra Lynn's true story is a testament to hope, humor, and the belief that no one should ever have to choose between a roof and a loyal pet

Industry Reviews

LOSING IT ALL by Alexandra Lynn. It is the story of loss, friendship and love. It is a tale of perseverance in the face of adversity. Dog lovers will enjoy the endearing snippets of dog stories interwoven throughout the book. Alexandra Lynn has an enjoyable'writer's voice'. Reading this book felt like having a visit with a chatty friend who shared from the heart. Alexandra Lynn shared the ups and downs of job loss and homelessness, and the valuable lessons learned along the way. (Goodreads)

This book is really eye opening for those who have never experienced losing everything. It gives the reader a glimpse of how things can change in the blink of an eye, as in the author's case. This book is a tale of survival, uncertainty, resilience, love, friendship, and even ... making sausages! Well written and entertaining as she tells the story of their life. Easy to read, easy to follow. I definitely recommend this book, and look forward to the next one! (Goodreads)

I really thought about putting this book down a few chapters in. Boy, I'm glad I didn't. The first chapters cover the feelings the author had regarding the devastation of losing everything and having to take refuge with a close friend. That's a reminder that even if you do everything "right," it can all go away in an instant. Then the story gets good. The most wonderful thing about the story of the author's loss is also the story of the author's gain. This is a picture of true friendship. As the author and her husband try to put their lives together in someone else's home while creating someone else's dream, the author must experience and confront the meaning of true friendship as well as the sacrifices that need to be confronted during tough times. The writing isn't Hemmingway, but it's real. It's a good quick read that reminds you that there but for the grace of God go all of us. (Amazon)
