'Brilliant. Casey's ability to spin a sceal makes his funny, subtly emotional tales worthy of a warm night by the fire.' OLIVER CALLAN
A WITTY AND WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES BROUGHT TO LIFE BY BERNARD CASEY'S MUCH-LOVED CHARACTERS, GOSSIP AND NEPHEW.
Gossip, a lifelong bachelor in his sixties, knows every rumour, scandal and whispered conversation for miles around. Nephew, meanwhile, is a nosy and wildly ambitious teenager whose dreams of getting ahead often land him in trouble. Together, they offer a hilarious take on the people, places and peculiarities that define rural Irish life.
Packed with sharp observations, colourful characters and the kind of local drama that travels faster than the broadband, Local Gossip explores everything from old traditions and family life to sport, marriage, social pressures and even small-town secrets.
Warm, nostalgic and wickedly entertaining, this is a celebration of rural Ireland at its most recognisable - where Gossip hears everything and Nephew is never quite as innocent as he seems. Because in a small community, some stories travel quickly ... and others are best left untold.
