I also appreciated the simple tools she uses to keep you oriented, like the air show map and the racecourse layout. It sounds small, but it really helps the action land, especially when the racing gets fast and messy. 

I found the mum-son conflict believable even when it hurt to watch. She is terrified, he is stubborn, and neither of them has the full language for what's going on underneath.
