Every other doctrine depends on the right doctrine of Scripture. It is Written is a faithful and accessible exposition and defence of the full compass of the Biblical doctrine of Scripture. As the Lord Jesus used Scripture to resist the tempter in the wilderness, may we do so as well. It is my prayer that this book will be mightily blessed to that end.

A Biblical view of Scripture is of great importance. The Holy Scriptures present themselves as the Word of God, being able to make us wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15). The Lord in His providence has preserved His Word through the centuries, and continues to do so in our time, providing for us His Word in a reliable translation (without the many omissions and changes found in the Critical Text). We warmly recommend this publication that seeks to make the reader aware of this.

Like an ever-eroding shoreline, the doctrine of Biblical authority has been slowly disappearing due to the influence of Enlightenment thought in the higher institutions of Christian education. The assurance once evoked by the phrase, Thus saith the LORD, has essentially been replaced by the inquiry, What saith the LORD? The critics are quick to assure us that most of the time we know, but they are also honest enough to admit that there is still much work to be done. It was not always like this and the volume It is Written invites you to return to the pre-modern view of Scripture which led our fathers in the faith to confess that the God who inspired Scripture also preserved it through His special care and providence so that men, in every age, might come to a saving knowledge of Christ and be made complete, thoroughly furnished for every good work. The editor and contributors to It is Written have done a good work in calling today's Christian back to an implicit faith in the integrity and authority of God's Holy Word.
