Introductions is a unique undertaking in the world of Canadian poetry. This exciting anthology brings together 15 of this country's most honoured and influential poets whose goal is to introduce this generation's finest - yet lesser known - poets. Each "introducer" provides an insight into the life and work of the poet of their choice, which is followed by a selection of some of the poet's most engaging work. The result is a powerful yet eclectic selection of unheralded verse, and a rare glimpse into the way poets see themselves and the world around us. Together, contributors to Introductions have been awarded 10 Governor General's Awards and dozens of the most prestigious honours in English language poetry.

Contributors include:

    P.K. Page introducing Marilyn Bowering
    A.F. Moritz introducing Carleton Wilson
    Erin Moure introducing Susan Holbrook
    Patrick Lane introducing Elizabeth Phillips
    Lorna Crozier introducing Carla Funk
    John Newlove introducing Rob McLennan
    Anne Michaels introducing Sheila Waite
    Robert Kroetsch introducing Helen Tsiriotakis
    Susan Musgrave introducing James Clarke
    Margaret Avision introducing George Whipple

Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Frontier College, a Canada-wide, volunteer-based, literacy organization.

Industry Reviews
"For an introduction to some younger Canadian poets, given provenance by some of our most established versifiers, you could turn to Introductions: Poets Present Poets, edited by Evan Jones. Here, a gender-balanced bakeras dozen of poets - virtually none of whom you will have heard - are introduced by an equal number of established poets - you will have heard of many. Thus we have Susan Musgrave on James Clarke ("enormous capacity for compassion," "wry humour"); Don MaKay (just shortlisted for the Canadian Griffin Poetry Prize) on Karen Solie ("Sylvia Fricker and Susan Sontag in the same sensibility"); Lorna Crozier on Carla Funk ("the pragmatism, spirituality and sensuousness of a St. Theresa"); George Elliott Clarke on Suzette Mayr ("part tonic water and part disinfectant"). Other pairings include Anne Michaels and Sheila Waite, Richard Outram and George Murray, Erin Moure and Susan Holbrook. . . this is a worthy project, made worthier by the fact that proceeds from its sale will go to Frontier College, a national literacy organization." - Martin Levin, The Globe and Mail "For an introduction to some younger Canadian poets, given provenance by some of our most established versifiers, you could turn to Introductions: Poets Present Poets, edited by Evan Jones.
