In a future galaxy haunted by the ancient Godwar, the warrior-priest culture of the Flameborn has been suppressed, their power residing only in dangerous, forgotten relics. The story follows two lives violently and unwillingly drawn into the resurgence of that forbidden, divine fire:

Kareth Vos, a loyal soldier of the Accord's Echo Sovereign infantry, is sent on a high-stakes "cleanup" mission to the dead, psionically corrupted city of Virellos. Deep in the ruins, his team encounters a primordial Flameborn relic that attempts to overwrite his consciousness in a searing cascade of light and impossible visions. The relic marks him as "chosen" and "written in the book of flames", transforming him into a vessel for the ancient fire and knowledge. Kareth must fight to maintain his sanity and his identity against the consuming "memory of fire" that seeks to make him its ultimate weapon.

Sura Kael is a highly skilled smuggler and relic thief operating under the shadow of the ruling Dominion. Her latest score is the Shard Codex, a crystalline fragment containing pre-Godwar stellar data and ancient secrets, stolen from a high-security archive. The Codex-and the forbidden psalm-blade she reluctantly wields-sings to her with an ancient voice, recognizing her as a "daughter of flame" and forcing her to confront the dangerous Flameborn heritage she's spent a lifetime running from.

The two are inextricably linked by fate, for the secret encoded within the stolen Shard Codex is a name: Kareth Vos.

As divine fire reignites across the stars, Kareth and Sura are caught between a forgotten history and a terrifying future, forced to choose between the safety of being mortal and the consuming, transcendent power of becoming a god. The fire remembers, and it's determined that humanity will too.
