Among the improvisations and technologies covered are tanks equipped with hedgerow cutters, the coordination of air and ground attacks, and the use of radios and aircraft to direct artillery fire--all of which contributed to American success on D-Day and afterwards. About the Author: James Jay Carafano, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, has taught at West Point, the Naval War College, National Defense University, and Georgetown University. Currently a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, he is also the author of Waltzing into the Cold War (978-1-5854-4213-3) and After D-Day (978-1-5558-7885-6).
