Martin Clunes returns as Dr Martin Ellingham, the hostile and tactless doctor in the picture postcard village of Portwenn, Cornwall.

In the fourth series Doc Martin is starting to question what keeps him in Cornwall, it's certainly not his relentlessly annoying patients. Martin has realised that if he is ever to escape he must conquer his blood phobia for good.

This series will test the Doc like never before and take him into uncharted emotional territory. He will have to forge an entirely new relationship with Louisa, who is determined to keep him at a distance. And he will find himself increasingly drain into the brainy and socially unfettered company of Edith, his old girlfriend from medical school days.

But there's an even bigger surprise in store for the grumpy GP...
