Andrew Lang (1844 - 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. The Andrew Lang lectures at the University of St Andrews are named after him. Lang was also a prolific author of works both fiction and non. Diamond Cut Diamond is an Indian fairy tale included it in The Olive Fairy Book. The story is about a merchant. For years he had to dwell in poverty, poorness. One day he decided to move to a distant land and start anew. There he has become rich and wealthy, but, eventually, he grew homesick as well. This has pushed him to go on long and dangerous journey home.
