This book considers the impact of a large variety of copper-based nanostructures on agri-food sectors. There is increased interest in this subject both in academic and industrial sectors, where the opportunities that nanotechnology can provide are being embraced.

The book is divided into six main parts.

Part 1 highlights green synthesis of copper nanoparticles, production mechanisms, eco-safety, and future perspectives. Part 2.highlights the increasing importance of copper nanomaterials in plant protection applications. Part 3 describes the use of copper nanostructures in plant science applications, such as multifunctional copper-based nanocomposites and their agroecosystem applications, the impact of copper-based nanoparticles on economically important plants, copper nanoparticles in soil, uptake, mechanism of toxicity and biotransformation in plants, and copper/carbon-based nanostructured materials as a growth stimulator of plants. Part 4 is devoted to one of the most innovative topics of nanobiotechnology, which concerns antimicrobial applications. In this section current approaches are summarized for using copper nanomaterials as antimicrobials and antibacterials. Part 5 describes copper nanostructure applications, including copper nanostructures as antimicrobial agents against animal pathogens, safety considerations of copper nanoparticles in food, feed additives, and finally, applications of copper nanoparticles against plant and animal parasitic nematodes. Part 6 summarizes current applications of copper nanomaterials in agroecosystems, such as copper nanoparticles as nanosensors, their negative ecological effects, estimation risks of exposure to copper-based agrochemicals, understanding their interaction with blue-green algae, and wastewater treatment.

This book provides information on the design and application of ecologically safe formulations, for protecting cultivated crops against insects and pathogen-causing diseases, plant science, antimicrobial applications and agroecosystem applications, as well as veterinary applications.
