This is a comprehensive yet short book in which all sixty-six books of the Bible are covered, reflecting meditatively on each book's first verse. It is this writer's hope that more and more Christians and spiritually-minded people who are open to the Bible will indeed read the whole Bible for themselves, without relying on paraphrases or summarized knowledge. I believe that a personal and cover-to-cover reading of God's word will be an immense blessing to those who endeavor to accomplish it. Hopefully this short volume will be an encouragement to that end.

Industry Reviews

“Patrick Gray has a teacher’s heart and mind. With clarity and precision, these brief devotionals will both warm and inform the reader. Readers will want to move on past the first verse of each Bible book to uncover the treasures of the remaining verses.”
—Tom Hayward, pastor, Ebenezer Baptist Chapel

“Bookends contains sixty-six short introductory remarks on the first verse of every book in the Bible. By this unique and original plan, and generally focusing on those reading the Scriptures for the first time, Mr. Gray takes us on a spiritual journey through the inspired writings. . . . Mr. Gray is to be commended for his desire to make the Scriptures accessible to a generation now, sadly, unfamiliar with the Book Divine. May this work of many hours ‘go about doing good.’”
—G.R. Burrows, retired pastor
