What started as a blog to share a love for making things, The Tinkering Monkey has turned into a thriving online business due to its passion for designing and crafting stylish, functional products that are built to to last.

Featured in Make magazine, the New York Times, and Men's Journal for their innvotive Wood-Flip I-Pad retail register and their innovative wooden signs for clients such as Instagram and Clif Bar, Mike and Paula Cheung have struck a chord among a new generation of makers seeking to rattle the dusty cage of the woodworking craft. With their first book, The Tinkering Woodworker, the author/design team delivers both original plans as well as projects built for online customers.

They all have one thing in common: that are cleverly designed, easily-built, and will make a home, office, and leisure time pursuits more efficient, stylish, and fun. Each project - ranging from a standing desk and a beer caddy to a slingshot and a whimsical teardrop-trailer cat house - taps into an emerging or booming trend and will certainly strike a chord of "I want to make that!" among the makers, beer brewers, pet owners, free-lancers, and urban dwellers who discover this helpful guide. About the Authors

Mike Cheung is the co-founder and production director of The Tinkering Monkey Workshop. Mike is a DIY enthusiast who believes that if something can be built, modified, or invented, then it should be. Mike grew up in Georgia shootin' guns and cow tipping, but now lives a much safer life as an industrial designer in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Paula Cheung is the other half of the Tinkering Monkey team. Co-founder Paula Cheung handles the operation end of things. She runs the monkey business and connects with like-minded people in the design and DIY community. On the rare occasion she's not geeking out in front of the computer, she can be found either baking, disco dancing, or talking to her rabbit.
