A Shattered World combines three books that tell the story of Rejoice, a seemingly ordinary person who grows from child to full adult, a mother and pastor's wife. An ordinary person who happens to be a genius.Rejoice's family are part of a group of Christian pacifist colonists, seeking new lives on an intriguing alien planet, free from the discrimination and persecution of Earth. Their new home proves to have not just one, but two potentially hostile, native intelligent alien species. Rejoice at twelve is the only person who sees the threat that menaces to destroy the colonists' new home. As a teenager, she shares in the adventure of a voyage of exploration around the planet. As an adult, she's at the center of a simmering potential war between the alien species, her fellow Christian colonists, and new, warlike colonists from Earth.A Shattered World is epic science fiction clothed in the lives of ordinary people from a distant place, in the not-so-distant future.

Industry Reviews

"I've enjoyed Shatterworld! It has fact flavored with the fantastic, all built upon a backbone of faith...An interesting place to visit. Take the journey yourself!"

Robert Don Hughes

Author of the Pelmen the Poweshaper and Wizard and Dragon series

"There's an intriguing astrobiological premise, an alien character we can truly cheer for, and plenty of room for a sequel."

Kathy Tyers

Author of the best selling Truce at Bakura and Fusion Fire

This trilogy has Shatterworld, Circumnavigation of Shatterworld, and Pacifists' War.

Don't let...the 12 year old heroine in the first book deter you. These are seriously good novels. The basic plot is an old one: a group of persecuted Christians escapes Earth and flees to a remote barren, seemingly uninhabited planet.

In the first book of the series, Rejoice is a 12 year old genius who saves the planet. In the second, she's a teenager sharing in a missionary journey around the planet. In the third, she's married and back to saving the planet again [well, sorta].

This is serious, powerful Christian fiction.

David Bergsland

Author of the Tales of Mighty Men trilogy
