As a poet, I hold the most archaic values on earth. They go back to the late Paleolithic; the fertility of the soil, the magic of animals; the spoils within solitude, love and ecstasy, the common work of the community.

Within Mr. Webb's A Season's Learning are organic social and philosophical principles that express the fundamental credo within humanistic convictions as a man and artist. He uses granular wordings to suggest a certain "primal" and "spirituality" - a simple pattern from which other thoughts may evolve. The elegant way he dances around robust themes which seem to stem from his belief that essential lessons which concern human consciousness have been long lost. Simple acts such as a walk through the woods, or the aroma of the sea; long forgotten memories that I gladly welcomed back.

A Season's Learning feels like a home you have traveled long to find, reflecting core values such as a respect for land as a constant source of life; an understanding to resist social pressure in order to discover and develop power from within; an acknowledgment or youth as an individual exploration of the depths of subconscious and joy, not to lose extraordinary found in the mundane. The core of these more important than the next, to unite the reader with larger sense of self.

Neither the poet as solitary speaker within the pulpit nor as enlightened presence is sufficient without the complex relationship that combines the textures possessed within the rich text, promoting a sense of perception and remembrance. It is with these values in mind the Mr. Webb defines ideal life experiences crucial to the accomplishment of memory.

Alan's work is rich and touches the soul.

Each poem is expressing a different experience within the realm of nature and humanity. One can begin to understand the magic of Mother Nature and how we ourselves are connected. Alan provides beautiful imagery by painting a portrait within A Season's Learning. The way he translates nature poetical is amazing.

He gracefully and skillfully gives a description of all that one can witnessed in a season. The account is truly a learning experience.
