Cecilia Fitzpatrick, devoted mother, successful Tupperware business owner and efficient P&C President, has found a letter from her husband.

"For my wife, Cecilia Fitzpatrick, to be opened only in the event of my death"

But Cecilia's husband isn't dead, he's on a business trip. And when she questions him about it on the phone, Cecilia senses something she hasn't experienced before. John-Paul is lying.

What happens next changes Cecilia's formerly blissful suburban existence forever, and the consequences will be life-changing for the most unexpected people.

This book was much better than I expected. I had read a newspaper article about the author and how she was really not very well known in Australia but very popular overseas so I was expecting a much less well written book. However, I really enjoyed this. I could easily identify with the characters and the sting in the tail of the story was a complete surprise. I gave it to a friend as soon as I had finished and she couldn't put it down either!

After being thrilled with this book, I have now give three copies to others as presents, and they, too, have all enjoyed them as I did. We all read them very quickly, as the author engages the reader from the first page, and the first character. With facts carefully but surreptitiously planted throughout the book, Liane Moriarty brilliantly ties all her hints together with great dexterity, and leaves the reader saying, oh yes NOW I see!
Living in the same area that this book is written is a bonus - give one a great sense of intimacy with the setting and the characters.
The author's writing style is fluid and extremely easy to read. Clear and concise description make one read every word with enthusiastic ease.

Another example of how Moriarty develops strong characters and connections within them, and then turns them around with plots and twists.

Although well written, the story line was Ok but the characters were terrible.
It tried to reflect Sydney North Shore characters but did not do this well.
I did finish the book but looking back it was not time well spent!
