Equal parts writing craft and publishing savvy, this book presents indispensable information for the aspiring novelist alongside new considerations for a rapidly changing marketplace, including self-publishing strategies, online communities for writers, marketing and publicity options, ebook sales and more.

This book is split into two equal parts. Part I is devoted to crafting the novel: from getting started to fleshing out the story, making it vivid and incorporating revisions. Part II gives an in-depth view of the business of publishing: from becoming an agented author to becoming a published author and beyond.

Book Features:
  • Learn from Industry Experts: Written by a published author and two top agents, it combines craft considerations with the business side of publishing for a truly complete guide to writing your first novel.
  • Updated Edition for Today's Market: Includes updated fiction examples from recent published novels and new industry insights for querying, publishing, marketing and more.
