HUNTER, a cynical, world-weary tracker estranged from his past, returns to the
magical kingdom of Faedon for the funeral of his grandmother, ROSE RED, the
revered Head of the mysterious House of Red. Faedon is governed by seven distinct
Houses - Wolf, Raven, Bear, Dragon, Gold, Crow, and Red - each tied to a unique
magic, an animal Familiar, and a powerful ancestral Relic, all bound within a
magical barrier raised a century ago to defeat the EVIL QUEEN.

Hunter reunites with his childhood friends, RUBY RED (Grams' granddaughter and
heir) and GARRICK SPRIGGINS (heir to the wealthy House of Gold), stirring
unresolved feelings and the weight of his unexplained ten-year absence.

The fragile peace is shattered when CORBIN CORVUS, the boisterous King of the
Crows, is found brutally murdered - a "Thief's Death," a punishment unused since
the Evil Queen's reign. Hunter is immediately the prime suspect: one of his
signature silver daggers is found at the scene, and a witness (Corbin's daughter,
ROBIN) saw him threatening the King just hours before.

Arrested by the gruff SHERIFF NIGHTAN, Hunter is unexpectedly released by
RAVEN DARKSHADOW, the ancient and powerful Witch Queen and Head of
House Raven. Aware of Hunter's unique tracking skills (a rare Lupine ability), she
hires him to find the missing Crow Relic, the Thief's Coin, believing its theft is
linked to Corbin's murder and concerned about unrest among the ruling Houses.
This uneasy alliance ties Hunter's freedom to solving the case.
