The Trained Ghost Gimmick by Mark Burtman, narrated by Mark Burtman, Steve Rak, and Janet Spots, and produced and published by Audiobook Publishing Services, is a wildly imaginative supernatural fiction audiobook where dark comedy, Southern Gothic atmosphere, folklore, and ghostly chaos collide.
What begins as a bizarre barroom gimmick quickly becomes a supernatural nightmare.
Inside a historic Southern theater turned bar, a sharp-tongued lawyer offers customers a free beer in exchange for their souls. Finger pricks. Blood signatures. A joke designed to attract attention—until the dead begin showing up to collect.
Soon, ghosts are roaming the theater, stopping crimes, protecting the property, solving their own murders, and exposing corruption that reaches far beyond the grave. As supernatural comedy turns into dark satire, every deal comes with consequences—and every contract has fine print.
Blending paranormal fiction, dark fantasy, supernatural humor, Southern Gothic fiction, haunted Americana, ancient folklore, and adult comedy, The Trained Ghost Gimmick delivers a genre-bending story filled with ghosts, music, poker, mystery, corruption, and unexpected twists.
But the real danger arrives when an ancient Choctaw boogieman, bound to the land and furious over stolen souls, comes to collect his debt. The joke is over. The stakes are real.
To enhance the theatrical atmosphere, Jack Lewis from Audiobook Publishing Services intelligently played with reverberation and carefully integrated sound effects, creating an immersive, theatre-like listening experience that brings the haunted setting and supernatural encounters vividly to life.
Narrated by Mark Burtman, Steve Rak, and Janet Spots, this bold audiobook is perfect for listeners who enjoy dark supernatural fiction, paranormal stories with humor, Southern Gothic mysteries, folklore-inspired fantasy, and unconventional ghost stories.
