From the award-winning author of Just Like That and the acclaimed essay collection In Full View comes a funny and moving novel about family, memory and Mercedes cars.

Ruth Rothwax is a successful, feisty businesswoman with a healthy sense of irony to counterbalance her three divorces.

But as the daughter of Edek Rothwax, an Auschwitz survivor with an idiosyncratic approach to spoken English, Ruth can often find no words to understand the loss her family has experienced. Ruth knows she must return to Poland with Edek, but what happens there is more than she can possibly imagine.

This time, Poland, the past, is waiting for her.
